Farmland available at Urban Edge Farm

SCLT is opening up more acreage for small-scale farmers this year at Urban Edge Farm (UEF).

If you’re interested in growing food in an area ranging from ½-to-2 acres this might be the place for you. UEF is located 10 miles west of Providence on the Cranston-Johnston line, at 25 Pippin Orchard Road. It is a 50-acre parcel of fields and forest owned by the State of RI and managed under a long-term lease by SCLT. If you wish to be considered as a tenant at UEF in 2019, please complete this application form.

Apprentice program grows food and community

PROVIDENCE — This growing season the Southside Community Land Trust (SCLT) will introduce a farming apprenticeship specifically designed for veterans and minorities. Funded by a grant from the USDA’s Socially Disadvantaged Farmers and Ranchers Program, this is the first opportunity of its kind in the area.
