SCLT is hosting a Black August Farmers Market at the Davey Lopes Recreation Center on August 28, from 11 am to 4 pm, to gather the Black community in Rhode Island to celebrate the creativity and resilience of Black people through sharing the history of the freedom fighter, abolitionist, Civil Rights, and Pan-African liberation movements locally, nationally and globally, as well as to highlight the arts and artists that evolved through them.

The day will include storytelling, live music, drumming and performances, craft making, and art/isans and farmers market. The event is free and open to the public.

SCLT’s Black August Farmers Market is sponsored by Neighborhood Health of RI and Providence’s Department of Arts, Culture and Tourism.
