Ben believes that food and community grow well together. He moved to Providence to attend Brown University, and caught the farming bug in 2003. Since then his land-based collaborations have included developing a CSA as part of a co-housing collective in the Hudson Valley, working with refugees to build a community garden in South Providence and, from 2012 to 2021, co-managing Scratch Farm, a low-till, community supported market garden at Urban Edge Farm (UEF) in Cranston.

Ben values UEF as a unique place where farmers of different backgrounds have the space to grow food for their communities while also sharing key infrastructure, knowledge, and resources.
