Appoline joined SCLT’s Youth Program in 2019, and became a food system intern in 2022 after graduating from Hope High School. Since then, she has helped manage youth in the Providence program, and has worked at City Farm growing and harvesting produce. In recent years, she has also worked at Beautiful Day as a food production intern.
She underwent training in early 2021 to become one of the first youth representatives to SCLT’s Board of Directors. In that capacity, she provides invaluable lived experience, as well as a youth perspective on all matters before the board.
Appoline and her family came to Providence from Burundi when she was 12. Her language skills in Swahili and Kirundi are a huge asset in supporting SCLT’s community gardeners and farmers.
