Restoration Walks: Stories and Street Trees is now taking place Tuesday, October 13, from 5:30 to 7:00pm at Peace & Plenty Community Garden. The walk was originally scheduled for Friday, September 25, but was rescheduled due to forecasted weather. Same time, same place, just a new date.

Doug Victor, garden leader at Peace & Plenty, leads this walk through Elmwood’s street trees in partnership with 15 Minute Field Trips. The walk covers how trees help neighborhoods cope with climate change, alongside the stories residents carry about the trees they live among every day.

Peace & Plenty has been a garden for the Elmwood community for nearly forty years, and this fall the land itself was permanently protected, donated to Southside Community Land Trust to ensure it remains a garden for generations to come. It’s a fitting place to talk about trees that will be standing long after this walk ends.

This event is part of Nuestros Bosques/Our Forests, a walk series presented with the Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council and the Neutaconkanut Hill Conservancy, with additional walks continuing on Saturdays through October 24, from 10 to 11:30am.

Free and open to the public. Meet at 73 Peace Street, Peace & Plenty Community Garden, an SCLT community garden in the Elmwood neighborhood of Providence.
