Sam joined in April 2023 as SCLT’s Grants & Communications Coordinator, bringing years of experience in nonprofit development, grant writing, and multichannel communications. Sam graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst with a degree in anthropology, minoring in geosciences. Since then, she’s earned certificates in volunteer management, advanced grant writing, project management, and marketing design, and is working toward completing Certified Fundraising Executive requirements.
A lifelong backyard gardener and creative writer, Sam is excited to join the SCLT team in building and sustaining local, accessible, culturally-relevant healthy food networks in Rhode Island. Sam lives in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Providence with her partner Steven and their rescued pet crew: two 15-year-old cats, Frowzy and Leonard, and two 5-year-old pups, Huck and Nola.
