Jariliz is a graduate of The Met High School. She started at SCLT the summer of 2015 as a youth staff with little knowledge about agriculture. In 2015, the site of the current Somerset Hayward Youth Enterprise Farm was neglected and littered with debris. As the site blossomed into a vibrant working farm, Jariliz’s interest in urban agriculture grew into a personal passion.

In the past three years she has helped start an urban farming high school curriculum and is building a greenhouse at The MET High School. This project was funded by a $2,000 grant from the Natureworks Conservancy, which Jariliz independently applied for and was granted. As part of this project, she has been teaching environmental science to ninth grade students. She has also been active in planning the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) project at the Somerset Hayward Farm, which will begin in 2018. Jariliz will be using her agricultural knowledge to serve as an ambassador for a community garden in South Providence, managing a demonstration plot. She hopes to enroll to CCRI in the fall to pursue her degree in Engineering.
