A freshman at Providence College, China will be working at City Farm from March through November. She hopes to learn about both the business and community engagement sides of the operation.

China’s Hmong and Vietnamese family have been in Rhode Island since 1979, and have a long history of growing food. “Growing up, I’d visit big gardens and farms where my grandparents grew our food, but with the language barrier, I never really understood what was going on.” She’s eager to learn, and eventually to take over her family’s gardens.

“Every day I learn something new at City Farm. It’s fascinating and therapeutic, because gardening can be a source of income, a hobby and passion. I’m excited to be a part of the 2019 season.”
