Plant lovers from around the state celebrate the start of the growing season each May by the return of SCLT’s Rare & Unusual Plant Sale. This two-day event attracts on average 2,000 gardeners, and takes place at City Farm, a lush oasis at the corner of West Clifford and Dudley Streets on Providence’s South Side.

We sell hundreds of varieties of sustainably grown annuals, perennials, and fruit and vegetable plant starts – roughly 20,000 in all. Our growers use only seeds from high-quality, trusted sources, and every year select several that are hard (or even impossible!) to find at local nurseries.

The Sale is a community event, and a community effort. All proceeds support SCLT's education and outreach programs. In addition, plants left over after the event are donated to more than 30 local nonprofits.

Interested in volunteering? We need people to help set up tents and tables and break them down afterwards. We also need volunteers to check memberships and to help carry flats of plants to cars. Please note that you will be standing the entire shift. However, we provide coffee, snacks and lunch! Contact Michelle Walker at michelle@southsideclt.org or 401-273-9419 ext 100.

The Plant Sale accepts SNAP and EBT benefits!
