Gardener Education ProgramAccording to the RI Department of Health, "If the residence you own, rent, or manage, was built prior to 1978, you should assume that it poses a potential lead hazard." The State reports that in 2005, 621 of RI's children tested positive for lead-poisoning for the first time. It is imperative that you take precautions to reduce lead risks, especially if you have young children or grow food. With SCLT's new pamphlet on lead-free gardening, you will learn how to test your soil and grow safely in your backyard. Not only will your food be healthier, but your family will be, too!
