Provide people with the know-how and land to garden and -- like the old adage about teaching someone to fish -- they will never be hungry.  Each season, more than two hundred families garden in SCLT’s inner-city Community Gardens and reap a bountiful harvest of fresh nutritious food.  The food community gardeners grow translates into real savings, an average of $250 per household each summer.  SCLT’s gardens are precious oases providing green space for neighbors and nature alike!

SCLT's Community Gardens were featured in the  Providence Monthly: The One Hundredth Issue 100 Reasons Why We Love Our City by Christina Santos

“#32. Greener Acres

While we enjoy doing donuts in abandoned parking lots as much as the next guy, we really appreciate how the Southside Community Land Trust has transformed vacant areas into vital community gardens. Five acres within the West and South Sides have a new lease on life thanks to this organic organization... perhaps it's not that hard being green after all.”

Thanks to Christina Santos and the Providence Monthly!
